NEPAL HERITAGE RUN - A MISSED OPPORTUNITY
Good ideas need better planning. Let's stop hiding poor execution behind noble themes.

Participated in the 25K Nepal Heritage Run organized by Nepal Adventure Running Federation (NARF) - what was marketed as a unique cultural road running experience turned out to be a textbook example of poor race planning and management.
Limited hydration and no nutrition support
No medals for those finishing later than 2 hrs 30 mins
No proper route maps or visible markings
Minimal to no volunteer support at critical junctions
“Heritage” route barely showcased actual heritage sites
No emergency readiness, coordination with KMC, or traffic management
From unmanned checkpoints to missing water stations, it felt less like heritage run and more life an afterthought. While the idea is promising, the execution lacked basic professional standards. Heritage is not just a theme - it needs to be experienced, respected, and well-executed.
If Nepal truly wants to attract running tourists or position itself on the global marathon map, we must start treating runners like valued participants, not mere foot traffic.
